How to get saved and be sure of it!

Eternal life is a gift of God. It has nothing whatsoever to do with good works that we have done or religious duties that we have fulfilled. We are saved by grace through faith. But what exactly do we have to believe? In what must we have faith in order to be saved? The Apostle Paul makes it very clear.

"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

We must simply believe that Jesus died for our sins, that God raised Him from the dead and then confess His Lordship over our lives. The Apostle John put it this way, "As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become children of God." Believing in and receiving Jesus is how we are saved. If you believe this, you never have to doubt whether or not your are saved. You don't have to question whether or not you will go to heaven when you die. This is how God Himself has told us we will be saved. "Whoever believes  that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God". (1 John 5:1) "He that has the Son has eternal life" (1 John 5:12) He who believes in the Son has everlasting life." (John 3:36) "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". (Romans 6:23) "The Gospel is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes". (Romans 1:16)

If you want to be saved - if you want to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord right now, pray this prayer with a heart full of faith:

"Father God in Heaven, I come to you now in the Name of Jesus Christ. I confess my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that He gave His life for me on the cross. I believe that He suffered and died in my place. I believe that He paid the penalty for my sins. I believe that He rose again and conquered death. I believe He is alive today. I confess Jesus as my Lord right now. Jesus come into my heart. I receive you now. From this day forward I will live for you. Thank you for saving me! Amen"

If you prayed this prayer I want to encourage you to find a good church in your area and begin attending regularly. Going to church won't save you but once you're saved you'll need Christian friends, fellowship and the teaching of God's Word. Get a Bible and read it daily. Spend time with God in prayer. Once again, we are not saved by works but after we've been born again, we need God's Word and time with Him to grow in Christ.

Let somebody know that you got saved. It would be a great joy and honor for us to hear from you if you have just prayed this prayer. Please take a moment and send us an email at If you'll do that we'll send you a book that will help you with your first steps in faith. We'll also pray for you regularly. If you have any questions or if you have any prayer requests, just let us know.

God bless you and keep you by His mighy Holy Spirit in Jesus' Name!

PS: If you have some time, take a moment and read the next article. It will help you better understand the Gospel of Jesus and why He is the only way to salvation.

Why is Jesus the Only Way?

It’s amazing to me that so many Christians - even Christian leaders  - apparently don't understand the Gospel of Jesus. Many of them wonder how we can claim that Jesus Christ is the only way to be saved. People who don't understand this, don't understand the most basic truths of Christianity. I want to take a moment and explain it in terms that are as simple as possible. Click on the scriptures to be able to read them for yourself. These are the most basic truths concerning why we need salvation and why Jesus alone saves.

  1. All people inherited the sin nature from Adam and this causes them to sin. They are “spiritually dead” and therefore lost and separated from God. (Romans 5:12) *1
  2. Religious exercise and behavioural modification can not change this fact. (Ephesians 2:9)
  3. There are consequences to sin and the main consequence is death. (Romans 6:23)
  4. Jesus came into the world to pay our penalty and free us from sin’s punishment. On Calvary, He took our place and paid in full the penalty that we owed. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
  5. Those who believe in Jesus Christ are placed in Him and identified with His death, burial and resurrection. (Ephesians 2:4-6)
  6. By grace through faith they are saved, born again by the Holy Spirit and receive eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8, John 3:8, John 3:16)
  7. There are only two possible spiritual destinations for those who die physically; heaven and hell. (Matthew 25:26)
  8. Those who die in spiritual death, die separated from God and go to the place of separation and punishment; hell. Those who are born again and die, die united with God and go to be with Him in heaven. (Luke 16:22-23)
  9. It is appointed unto men once to die and after this the judgment. After death comes judgment for what we have done in this life with no chance to alter our eternal spiritual destination. (Hebrews 9:27, Luke 16:26)
  10. Those who die in Christ go to be with Christ in heaven. Those who die separated from Christ are eternally separated from Him. (Mark 16:15-16)

So why then is Jesus the only way to salvation? First of all, because He said so Himself!

"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)"

You can't believe in Jesus if you don't believe what He said about Himself. He is the only way, because He said so! Secondly, no one else ever did what Jesus did. No one else even offered to do it. Mohammed never died for us. Gautama Buddha never suffered in our placed. Vishnu and Krishna never paid the penalty for our sins! No one else ever did. And no one else could have done it. Jesus Christ, God the Son, the spotless Lamb of God, the eternal Word of God became flesh, became one of us and died in our place to pay the penalty we owed. He is the only One who did this and therefore He is the only One who can save us.

It is not a matter of God forgiving sins. It is a matter of the penalty for sin being paid and our spiritual nature being changed. Justice demands that sin's penalty be paid. Either we have to pay it personally or have someone else pay it for us. Jesus already paid it in full and now offers Himself as our payment. This is the good news. When we believe it and receive Christ as our Lord He gives us power to become children of God. He gives us His life, His nature, we are born again, we become new creations, we become one spirit with God and have eternal life. Believe it, receive it and you're saved! Mock it, disbelieve it or simply ignore it and you’ll have to pay with your own life… eternally.

This is not a threat, it is simply reality. The good news is that we don’t have to pay for our sins because Jesus already paid for us. But this payment can only be activated or become a reality in our lives by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. He that has the Son has life. He that has not the Son of God has not life. (1 John 5:12) There is no Biblical evidence that people who die in sin will ever have a chance to change their eternal destination. This must be done now, in this life.

*1 The only exception to this is found in Romans 7:9, “I was alive once without the law but when the law came, sin revived and I died.” Babies are born into this world spiritually alive, yet with the sin nature in the flesh. When a baby dies, they are not separated from God because they are spiritually alive. However, when the knowledge of the law comes, sin in the flesh revives and fleshly disobedience to God’s word causes spiritual death.  At what age this happens is certainly determined by various factors such as upbringing, religious instruction and mental competence. However, given enough time, all people reach this age and die spiritually making a new birth necessary for entrance into God’s presence. One may argue about at what age this happens but one may not argue about the fact that those who die in spiritual death, separated from God, all go to the place of eternal separation.
